Who currently drives an NC Miata after his NB was stolen just told me...
That he bought a 68 Alfa Spider for $200. It’s been sitting for some time so the tires are shot, no visible rust, and he was able to get it to turn over and start, which is impressive considering he has minimal knowledge of mechanics.
To say the least. I am slightly jealous.

For $200? I'm jealous too!

At that price, you can afford to give up if it turns into a money pit. Or just part it out. Nice.

A ‘68 for $200?

I don't care where you are, I'll offer $201. He gets a profit right?

Based on personal experience, a trip to Rock Auto is in his future for brake master, clutch master and slaves, and four brake calipers. Italian rubber doesn’t like mixing with brake fluid after 40 years.

Are they actually that desirable? I’ve been craving one for a while and there are a few cheap ones in my area. Most have good rocker rust going though.

The late 60’s duettos are appreciating tremendously two years ago you could get one in great shape for low 30k’s now a restored one will fetch around high 40’s to low 50’s
The ‘83-‘89 models are the cheapest right now but also the ugliest
the ‘70-’82 models are appreciating slowly two years ago a good one would set you back 10k now they’re going for 15k at the best
the ‘90-’94 models are the second most expesnive but the the rareness of them makes it difficult to give a good average price on those.
Rocker rust is the biggest killer of these cars, my ‘76 has pretty much no metal left on both outer rockers
